If you are looking to mediate about children see our page 'Children' to see if you can apply for the Family Mediation Voucher Scheme which offers up to £500 towards your mediation. It is non means-tested and not repayable.
A MIAMs meeting is £130. This includes the meeting, correspondence relating to the MIAM and if necessary, the forms to allow you to proceed to court.
Meetings If Mediation proceeds, costs will be on a time spent basis - the figures are foreach of you.
If your income is under £40k pa the fee will be £130ph If your income is over £40k pa it will be £150ph If your income is over £80k pa it will be £170ph
If you have capital (savings, investments or equity in your property) that exceeds £8,000 you will be charged £170 ph
A typical session lasting 1.5 hours will cost £195 (if you earn under £40k pa) or £225 (if you earn over £40k pa) or £255 (if you earn over £80k pa). There are no hidden costs and all correspondence to arrange the meetings are included in the fee. The preparation of documentation is also charged at your hourly rate. The figure is for each of you as applicable:
Open Financial Statement (OFS) and Memorandum Of Understanding are charged at 1.5-2 Hours depending on the complexity - £195/£260 (if you earn under £40k pa) or £225/300 (if you earn over £40k pa) etc.
Co Parenting Plan: 1 hour - £130 (if you earn under £40k pa) or £150 (if you earn over £40k pa) etc.
If your matter is more complex your Mediator will notify you regarding alterations to the fee. For example, if a second Mediator is required or there is a lot of correspondence then an additional sum will be charged to your existing hourly rate.
If you have a shuttle mediation (where you are both in separate rooms) the existing hourly rate covers one room and the additional room will be charged separately.
If additional costs are necessary, your Mediator will discuss this directly with you.
